INDIANAPOLIS (Monday, Aug. 26, 2013/National FFA Organization) – Dwight Stoddard, retired Career Tech state agency auditor with the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech, has been awarded a VIP citation by the National FFA Organization recognizing his significant contributions and dedication to FFA and agricultural education.
Stoddard grew up in Lawton, Okla. He served as chairman of the Oklahoma FFA state officer election process since 1986, treasurer of the board of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation’s board of directors since 1985 and as a volunteer national judge in the extemporaneous speaking and proficiency awards at the annual National FFA Convention & Expo. Stoddard also serves as a member of Oklahoma State University’s Ag-Ed Scholarship selection committee that awards more than $40,000 in scholarships to future Oklahoma agricultural education teachers.
Stoddard was nominated by Jack Staats, the state FFA advisor for Oklahoma, and Kent Boggs, executive secretary for Oklahoma FFA.
“Stoddard’s positive attitude, unmatched work ethic, professional demeanor, leadership contributions and generous spirit make him a perfect choice and a most deserving candidate for this award,” nominators wrote.
Stoddard served in the U.S. Army in Korea and achieved the rank of colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
“The VIP citation recognizes the dedicated individuals who contribute to the FFA mission of student success through their hard work and cooperation,” said National FFA Organization CEO Dwight Armstrong. "Without such strong and outstanding commitment, FFA would not be able to help build strong character in its members, who in turn build strong families, communities and industries.”
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 557,318 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 7,498 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
