INDIANAPOLIS (Monday, Aug. 26, 2013/National FFA Organization) – Dr. Cliff Ricketts, an agriculture education professor at Middle Tennessee State University, has been awarded a VIP citation by the National FFA Organization that recognizes his significant contributions and dedication to FFA and agricultural education.

Ricketts has graduated more than 300 agriculture education majors who are today teaching throughout the country. He has authored three editions of “Leadership, Personal Development and Career Success” for Delmar Language Publishers, a publication used in agriculture education and FFA programs throughout the U.S. He has also authored two editions of the “Agribusiness: Fundamentals and Applications” textbook for Delmar language in use in classrooms today.

He has written more than 25 agriculture education curriculum guides and testified before Congress on alternative fuel, flex fuel, multifuel, hybrids and more.

For several years, Ricketts has assisted with the national floriculture and nursery landscape CDE at the annual National FFA Convention & Expo and served as a judge for the National Agriscience Fair and evaluator of American Degree applications.

Emily Marshall, a teacher and member of the Tennessee FFA Association’s board of directors, nominated Ricketts for the award.

“The VIP citation recognizes the dedicated individuals who contribute to the FFA mission of student success through their hard work and cooperation,” said National FFA Organization CEO Dwight Armstrong. "Without such strong and outstanding commitment, FFA would not be able to help build strong character in its members, who in turn build strong families, communities and industries.”

The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 557,318 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 7,498 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
