Occupational Background or Experience
I have been a farmer growing corn and soybeans for 26 years on the same farm.  My wife and I live in the farmhouse that was my grandparents.  I have worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred for 10 years.  My job at the Algona, Iowa production facility entails many different positions.  From detasseling seed corn to drying it, treating it, packaging it, and shipping it.
FFA Alumni Activities
I became a Life member of FFA Alumni 10 years ago.  I was elected Local Affiliate President 7 years ago and I am proud to say I still hold that office.  I was elected to the Iowa State Alumni Board 5 years ago and am currently serving that Board as Past President.  I was appointed to fill the term of Central Region Rep. on National Council.
FFA Activities and Awards
I was not an FFA member I am sorry to say.  I am an Honorary Iowa degree recipient. (My son was a state officer)  I also received an Honorary Chapter Degree from my local FFA.
Outstanding Achievements and Community Activities
I have served as Lay Leader for our Church.  I do lay speaking for pulpit supply in area churches.  I am a Lions member which allows me to get used eye glasses for the Iowa Lions Foundation.  I have helped organize an Ice Skating program for our local youth and young at heart.
Other: I am extremely proud to be a member of an organization that is so interested in advancing youth.
