By Geoffrey Miller, National FFA Organization

The time you’ve spent with the FFA members of your chapter can often seem incalculable.

You help build and guide their supervised agriculture experiences and spend countless hours helping them practice for career development events. There are often hours of travel, early in the morning or late at night, to conventions, conferences, camps and more. From the time they’re a Greenhand until you’re watching them graduate, you have invested countless hours and untold effort as a teacher and advisor to grow their future potential. The time and energy you’ve put in builds an incredible sense of loyalty and fondness among your graduating FFA members for you and the FFA chapter.

Encouraging graduating FFA members to pursue associate membership in the National FFA Alumni Association is the perfect way to fulfill their desire to stay attached to the local FFA chapter and to the state and national organizations they’ve grown to love.

All graduating seniors in FFA now receive a free, five-year membership to the National FFA Alumni Association. These FFA members will be able to log into their Agricultural Career Network profile in late spring and opt-in to become an Associate member. The membership allows outgoing FFA members to transition to FFA Alumni status and serves an opportunity to stay connected with their FFA chapters. It’s the perfect way to stay Forever Blue.

Associate membership for FFA members who graduated in 2008 or later are also eligible for a pro-rated free membership based on the number of years they’ve been out of high school. FFA Alumni Associate Members also remain eligible for FFA member awards and achievements such as the American Degree.

Associate membership grants members electronic communication, free portals in the Agriculture Career Network, access to FFA Alumni discounts, access to the National FFA Alumni Convention and eligibility to attend the annual FFA Alumni Development Conference.

As an advisor, this presents you with a great opportunity to encourage your outgoing members to stay involved with your chapter. Associate FFA Alumni membership is an easy and free way to stay in touch with all levels of FFA and provides an officially recognized way to identify themselves as a supporter of FFA.

Keep them connected, keep them engaged and keep them Forever Blue.
