Associate membership is a five year, FREE membership for recent high school graduates to keep connected with FFA while engaged with FFA Alumni. How do students take advantage of this opportunity?
Current students: In the spring of 2013, all current agricultural education seniors can log into their personal Agricultural Career Network portals and find a link to opt-in to become an associate member of the National FFA Alumni Association (they also have the option of becoming full dues-paying members).
Materials on associate membership were included in a recent FFA Week mailing that was distributed to every FFA chapter. Spread the word to local FFA advisors and discuss with them how these materials can be incorporated into their plans prior to senior graduation.
Recent graduates: During the National FFA Convention & Expo, the national association launched the AgCN community portal, which has a “Join FFA Alumni” feature.
Agricultural education students who have graduated within the past five years can go to the community portal at www.FFA.org/AgCN and “sign-up for community.” Once they create a log in, they will have the option of joining FFA Alumni. It will request their high school graduation date. If it’s within the five-year limit, then the system will reveal the associate membership as an option when selecting state and national membership types.
FFA Alumni are encouraged to communicate this opportunity to their young adult networks and watch for more information on how the national association will be engaging and communicating with them. Visit the FFA Alumni website for details and be sure to check out the associate membership video.
