2011 scholarship results are in!
This year, approximately $1.9 million in scholarships were donated by 129 generous sponsors. More than 7,600 students submitted applications and 1,518 scholarships were awarded. View a list of 2011 scholarship recipients.

Notification letters will be mailed to recipients in late May or early June. The letters will contain detailed instructions for claiming the scholarships. Recipients should e-mail scholarships@ffa.org if they have not received their letters by July 1.

Information and applications for the 2012 scholarship program will be available Nov. 15, 2011.

FFA GO heads to Rwanda
FFA Global Outreach: Africa is offering another all-expenses-paid opportunity! Seven college-age students will be selected to travel to Rwanda July 13 - Aug. 1. While there, they will work with the staff of Catholic Relief Services, which helps those most needy to increase their food security and work toward self-sufficiency. The program is made possible through a generous gift by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. Applications must be postmarked by May 18, 2011. To learn more, visit the Collegiate webpage on ffa.org. Updated FFA chapter leadership resource now available
Reaching New Heights: An Advisor's Guide to Personal Growth and Leadership Development has been revamped and is now available online. RNH lessons are designed to help you teach a course in leadership or to train your chapter officer team. They can be used in sequence, or you can pick and choose lessons to fit your program. Topic areas include self-management, citizenship, ethics, developing interview skills, etiquette, conflict resolution, running effective meetings, partnerships and more! Apply to become an ag ambassador!
Do you have students who enjoy spreading the story of agriculture? Have them apply to be a National Collegiate Agricultural Ambassador! As an ambassador, they will be able to promote agriculture to the community and help people understand how the industry plays a vital role in their daily lives. Ambassadors will also learn about current ag issues from top industry leaders across the nation. Best of all, for their work as an ambassador, participants will be awarded scholarship money and a digital camera to record their presentations! Alumni from across the nation will be doing a little rockin’ in Little Rock, Ark., for the 2011 FFA Alumni Development Conference, July 20-24, 2011. PALS resources now online
Go to ffa.learn.com to find all of the updated, free Partners in Active Learning Support (PALS) lessons. These are great to use in your chapter’s mentoring program to increase both the mentor’s and mentee’s agricultural literacy and leadership skills.

Beyond High School
Attention FFA Advisors! Encourage your seniors to sign up for FFA Beyond High School.  Go to www.ffa.org/collegiate and click on the tab for “FFA Beyond High School.” It’s easy and only takes a minute. Students who sign up will be entered to win a free iPad! Encouraging your seniors to sign up for FFA Beyond High School ensures that you:

  • Keep your students engaged in FFA and agriculture as they transition to postsecondary educational opportunities.
  • Build a strong advocacy base for agricultural education at the state and local level to support the need for local programs.
  • Are able to gather more complete information on former students in order to maintain a strong local program and provide information for state reports.

Handbook and manual are NEW
The Official FFA Manual and Official FFA Student Handbook have been revised and are now available.  The official handbook has been reorganized and streamlined with classroom instruction in mind.  The handbook features hundreds of photos demonstrating FFA in action and several profiles of former members.

To better reflect classroom needs, the Official Student Handbook Advisors Guide DVD replaces the old Advisor’s Guide to the FFA Student Handbook. The advisor’s guide DVD companion includes 25 minutes of content broken into nine chapters. This newly developed DVD will bring the excitement and FFA spirit to your classroom – featuring the history of FFA, basic FFA knowledge, examples of opening and closing ceremonies, recitation of the FFA Creed and more!  Lesson Plans and PowerPoint presentations that complement the Official FFA Student Handbook can be found online at ffa.learn.com.
