National Officer selection changes delayed until 2012 process
In 2010, a task force discussed revising the selection process for national FFA officers. This meeting yielded an outstanding set of recommendations for revision that were originally scheduled for implementation in 2011. However, we have decided to delay the implementation of these revisions until 2012 to ensure that we have provided the proper resources and training necessary to allow for a fair process for all candidates. Please make sure that all potential candidates know that we will not make any changes to the process in 2011. We will communicate with stakeholders regarding the 2012 revision implementation throughout 2011.

Registration fees set for the 2011 National FFA Convention
The following registration fees have been set for the 2011 National FFA Convention:

  • $40 – for chapters that preregister and use the housing block.
  • $40 – for chapters located within a 100-mile radius of the host city that preregister for a full registration and will drive daily to convention.
  • $60 – for chapters that preregister and do not use the housing block or that will drive from a distance more than 100 miles from the host city.
  • $70 – for all on-site registrations.

The convention registration fees were last increased in 2008. Since then, as the convention has evolved into a larger, more dynamic event, the organization has seen a three-year increase of 14.6 percent in the convention’s operating costs. While sponsorship and other revenues have helped offset some of the expenses, registration fees still cover only about 50 percent of the overall expense of convention.

As in the past, the national FFA staff will continue to trim expenses wherever possible to help ensure FFA members are provided an outstanding educational convention experience at an affordable price. Increases in convention fees are scheduled periodically; the National FFA Organization will revisit the topic of convention registration at the end of the year to see if any adjustment is needed.
