Pet Shop Operator own and operate retail stores that specialize in supplies and services for pets. Pet shop operations are involved in all phases of store operation, including merchandising, sales, merchandise selection, advertising, hiring employees, stocking, customer service, animal care, budgeting, and displays. They are expected to stay current on the latest products, pet care techniques, animal health and animal care, by taking classes and reading publications. They often work closely with a local vet in caring for the animals in the pet shop.
