Welcome to LifeKnowledge®
2009 LifeKnowledge Evaluation Study:
40% of advisors surveyed currently use LifeKnowledge. 74% of users find that the LifeKnowledge materials compliment and reinforce regular course content. Most educators perceive the LifeKnowledge program as a pathway to leadership development, promoting personal growth, a means of building student character and improving the communication skills of their students. Since the 2006 evaluation, it appears that the number of educators using LifeKnowledge lessons and activities as supplemental pieces during and after school hours has increased.Teachers are raving about the results they are seeing and the benefits they are receiving from using LifeKnowledge. The impact is far reaching – going beyond the agriculture classroom and agrigulture students to truly reach all students.
"LK is really a great tool and is a must have for molding the minds of our youth in today's society."
- Jeffrey Spake, Agricultural Education Instructor, Big Pasture FFA, Randlett, OK
Blueprint for Success
LifeKnowldge® materials provide you with the tools guides and plans you need to build a total program.
“The biggest difference I see in the students is they have a better understanding of being responsible for themselves and their own actions. They take ownership of what they do and how they do it, so it’s not ‘That teacher gave me a C’; instead, it’s ‘I earned a C, and I know it.’ It isn’t ‘the world against me’; it’s ‘how I am approaching the world.’ Their mind-set is different. There is an ah-ha moment where they realize, ‘I am responsible for what I am doing, and I can take myself in a new direction if I want to."
- Paul Larson, Agricultural Education Instructor, Freedom Middle School and High School, Freedom, Wis. (19 years in teaching)
"As a teacher, I always knew that students learn differently. It was outside of my comfort zone to use the variety of teaching that was suggested. The e-Moments really made a connection for me. It made it easier for me to get out of my comfort zone and try new ideas.”
– Hugh Mooney, Agricultural Education Instructor, Galt High School, Galt, Calif."As an added bonus, the quality and style of the lessons have impressed administrators, science teachers and key education leaders in the state of Colorado. We are now viewed as the leaders in academic integration in our state."
- Scott Stump, Program Director, Colorado Agricultural Education and FFA
“As a teacher, I am reenergized and motivated. It has become routine for me to integrate LK principles into my lessons several times a week. I feel like I’m teaching to every student, which is my most important objective as a teacher. This has resulted in growth of 20 percent in our agriculture department."– Matt Kreifels, Agricultural Education Instructor, Blair High School, Blair, Nebr.
“As a former teacher, I know it is important to tie leadership into the classroom as much as possible, especially in high school. The way LifeKnowledge ties to leadership strategies and uses those strategies in examples really makes the kids respond to it in every lesson. Whoever put this together really knows kids and knows what our education system is lacking.
“I think this program is one of the best programs out there because it is very practical and very user-friendly. It is user-friendly for a deaf person, a socially challenged student, it is user-friendly for staff and students, and it is very flexible. That is what makes it the easy to incorporate into any classroom setting.”
- Deb Siebers, Freedom High School Guidance Counselor and National Honor Society Advisor, Freedom Middle School and High School, Freedom, Wis.
"Professional development is the constant renewal of self and viable skill in any profession. If we fail to continually develop ourselves as educators, we are making the choice to place our students at a disadvantage."
- Dr. Kyle McGregor, Associate Professor, Department of Agricultural Services & Development, Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Texas
"I have taken the LifeKnowledge Indicator pre-tests in my leadership class. The test was kind of long and challenged me to evaluate myself in answering the questions, but I think it is very helpful in the way it gives tips on what you can do better. We brainstormed individually on how to improve ourselves – then we discussed our ideas together. Now we are doing several activities to get everyone in class up to the next level. I enjoyed seeing how I could better myself and what I have already mastered."
- Lori Veorse, a junior at Essex High School in Tappahannock, Va., is taught by Mrs. Rebecca Carter. Carter has been using LK since 2004
“LifeKnowledge has been very effective in connecting students to what we are trying to do – building character, integrity, values and beliefs, which, to me, are the four main cornerstones to leadership."
Paul Larson, Agricultural Education Instructor, Freedom Middle School and High School, Freedom, Wis. (19 years in teaching)
“Overall, I’ve noticed grades have improved, especially among students who are kinesthetic learners. They are engaged in the content and learning is more natural and relevant for them. All I have to do is look at the progress of my students and how much I enjoy being in the classroom every day, and I know LifeKnowledge is making a difference."
– Matt Kreifels, Agricultural Education Instructor, Blair High School, Blair, Neb.
“I use LifeKnowledge in my agricultural leadership and communications course on a near daily basis. The curriculum fits perfectly into the course and provides opportunities for me to improve the curriculum that I already teach. Secondly, I utilize the LifeKnowledge posters and quotes to stimulate class discussions. The class uses the lessons as a framework to plan their visits to our local elementary school as a part of PALS.”
– Kris Elliott, Agricultural Education Instructor, Hanford High School, Hanford, Calif.
