LK for State Staff & Administrators
In 1999, the National FFA Organization began a major initiative looking at how young people are prepared for the future. The results showed that students weren't adequately aware of the choices they make and how those choices affect their futures. As a result, FFA began a strategic initiative from which the LifeKnowledge Center for Agricultural Education was born. It is the foundation for a comprehensive curriculum designed to help agriculture teachers integrate learning about leadership, personal growth and career development into any classroom.
With LifeKnowledge in your school, teachers can better educate and prepare all of their students to make wise life choices and ultimately be an asset to their communities
The LifeKnowledge program is a comprehensive framework for teaching life skills focused around three core assets:
- A comprehensive definition of leadership that will help students gain training in leadership skills.
- Instructional materials for students.
- Professional development that will help teachers use LifeKnowledge plans and materials.

LK- Above and Beyond Other Methods
There are five main reasons why LK is unique:
- By Kurt Dillon, Principal, Rawlins County High School, Atwood, Kansas
- LK is NOT just a set of packaged lessons. It is a teaching style and format that is cross-curricular and applies to all students.
- Learning the LK system and techniques will rejuvenate a teacher and a classroom.
- Using LK will reduce classroom management problems and engage all students.
- LK can help an agriculture department and FFA chapter retain students and develop better student leaders.
- LK is applicable to all areas of an agriculture department curriculum, and the 16 precepts of LK have been validated by agricultural industry leaders. You are teaching your students skills that industry leaders have said they need in future employees.

"Working in groups and doing the activities Mrs. Noggle assigns in class gives me great leadership abilities and the opportunity to practice teamwork and improve on my speaking skills. I think this helps me in other groups I am involved in, including the golf team and my church youth group."

"It (LifeKnowledge) teaches qualities that all students need, regardless of capability. It teaches life. What better reason than life to incorporate this into all ag ed programs."
